Time For A Tune Up

Going on an extended road trip requires one to make regular stops in order to rest and check the engine making sure it's in good shape to continue. Think of this as your en route tune up and opportunity to visit with others traveling Route 66.

Seventy-seven of us began this trip together in January, and you've heard from me on a regular basis. Now it's your turn! Won't you grab a cold soda from the fridge and take a moment to comment on this post letting us know how the road looks from your window? God speaks to us individually, and what He's saying to you may be exactly what one of our other travelers needs to hear. Please take time to check in and tune up.

Hi Everybody!!! I am traveling this road very aware God presence in my life. I feel that He wants me to go deep in His world. I feel my eyes open up more, God is speaking to me more clear them before. I finally realized that the only way to know Him is seeking Him every moment. I am far way to be perfect, but I am trying more hard this time to be in His presence. God bless you all,Love Adriana.

I'm not here on a daily basis, but I check in, and I think your idea of this "daily drive" is creative and motivational to stay on the course of reading and devotion. Good job.

I've chosen a slower pace reading program this year than I have in a very long time -- and at first, I felt sort of bad about it. But now it's a few months in - and I'm enjoying the time to meditate a bit more in small pieces. For example - working through the the details given for the tabernacle and it's contents has helped me remember what a God of intricate detail we worship. He cared right down to the embossing of cloth number of fasteners. He put His Spirit on men who were gifted in areas of artistic expression through crafting items of beauty -- all for His glory. I find great peace and a new level of trust in my God who cares about such small, hidden details -- and so I can find faith to believe He's in the hidden details of my life as well. How kind He is!

From Lisa Smith - My journey is going great. God has renewed my excitement for His Word again and again. Of late, I've been very consistent, reading daily and throughout the day a lot, but I haven't necessarily been reading in order. Last week the Lord kept me up until the wee morning hours reading a bunch of New Testament letters.

I am on pace and loving the stories of the Old Testament! It is so cool to see when the psalms were written and what circumstances inspired them! (I am reading in Chronological order) :) For anyone who is interested, I need prayer. I want God to be my only desire, but I keep letting myself be filled with things that don't satisfy. It is like eating Chinese food: filling up to the brim with it does not keep away the hunger :P. I want to be satisfied when I eat! I am sick of feeling hungry, but being to full of trash to fill myself with God. Thank you for your encouragement and prayers! ~Ariel Subrahmanyam

I am doing well, along with my children. I am enjoying the slower pace and having the time to study and meditate on Hebrews. The Lord is using it to show me more about Himself. Even the days when I am distracted, God seems to use the little things to remind me of what I have heard or read and to refocus on Him. Thank you all for your prayers and Debi for all your encouragement. It is so good to be on this journey together and even though we all are taking different roads we are headed toward the same goal together-how kind of our God!

I am trucking right along with ya on route 66. I have made a few pitstops along the way, but I am a speeder, so I have caught up. I have not done enough observation out the windows along the way. Guess i have had the music up too loud. So, i don't have any insights to share. I think i will turn off the music from now on and glance around some more to ensure I take the most scenic route along the way and observe what God is doing.

I am on hold right now. I think my kids will be in NC with my in-laws the first week of June and I am hoping to catch up so I should know for sure in a month or two. I don't feel any pressure of course but absolutely loved doing it.

Hey Debi, yes, I’m still traveling…more like putt-putt-putting…along the road. I started so late that I’m feeling bogged down in 1 Chronicles. I don’t know how to do the posting dealio. I tried to register so I could post a comment, but then it turned into me starting a blog…and although I think it would be great to do one about my sidewalk counseling ministry…I’m not quite ready to do that yet! I am working on it though. I’ll have one of my kids show me how to post a comment. *grin*

I am enjoying the journey, but have not been able to be consistent with daily devotions over the past month for various reasons, and I feel it has taken a toll. I am praying that God will give me the grace to get back to daily time with him. Thank you for the encouragement!

HI Debi,
Oh, what a wonderful experience this has been!! I have by God’s grace kept up with both of my reading and study plans. God has spoken to me, challenged me, comforted me and encouraged me! I am more than ever convinced of my need to spend time in the word, meditating and waiting, seeking to hear that beloved voice! Amazingly, so many days what I’ve read in the morning intersects with the events of the day, and I see God’s kind provision. I know I sound corny, but it’s true. Thank you so much for coordinating all of this.

I am still "en route" so to speak. I am quite a bit off from my goal (about a month) but am working on trying to catch up. I am struggling with balancing my desire to meet with God and just reading.
Thanks for all your prayers!

For the sake of needing to humble myself and possibly help anyone else who may be struggling I wanted to update you. Primarily because God does give grace to the humble, and this is humbling to say. Yes, I am still plugging along if you can call it that. I have
sputtered and spewed along the way. I have really completely broken down from time to time and not gotten anywhere. I have allowed the cares of life to side line me instead of realizing that they are only meant to add fuel to my tank to keep going. But, by God's grace and help I am still plugging, however little at a time, along. If you were to look at my reading plan there are days, even weeks, that have been skipped but I'm hoping to continue from where I should be now and then catch back up on the remainder that has been left behind. Thanks for your diligence in keeping up with this and encouraging us on.

YES I am still on the road with the Hebrews study. It is not that I don't want my response shown on the blog, this was just easier this morning with getting ready for work etc. Thanks for all your encouragement!

I am still plugging along. Although I am behind. But I am still going for it. I am really enjoying the old testament and being challenged by Gods anger against the Israelites for complaining and grumbling - so angry he would kill them. And yet how often do I complain. Im stuck on this for now - and trying to mull this over.
Thanks again for your encouragement and help on this journey.

Yes....I'm still going and mostly on track. I'm doing the read through the bible chronologically and am in the midst of laws and tabernacle building. Did you know it was a law that no tattoo was allowed? Yep. Right there in Leviticus! Heh.

we are still pluggin along. I’ve enjoyed your articles and it’s very helpful when you list the week we’re on. thanks so much for doing this for us. I am enjoying the series very much. I have to say I’m getting more out of reading Hebrews and listening to the messages during the week then I am out of the book. Thanks again.

I’m still traveling! Having a road map has made such a difference! God has been so faithful in helping me fight the temptation to "drift" (Hebrews 2:1) away from daily reading and meditation. And my soul has benefited greatly! Thank you Debi for all of your hard work and encouragement :)!!

Hey Debi,
I'm still definitely on the journey, but just at a VERY slow pace. Due to morning sickness, bed rest, other sickness in the family, and lack of sleep; but mostly due to laziness and lack of discipline in my reading, I am behind on both my reading and the messages. However, I am very excited to be getting caught up and sense the Lord giving me fresh motivation and love for reading His word and the BST book. I'm hoping to be back on track with everyone by May 17th.
