Blowing In The Wind

It is January 3rd and I haven't heard from most of you what your plans are for the New Year. Please let me know if you would like to be included in Route 66 - 2010. Reading God's Word can seem like a difficult task when viewed over the whole year, and I will admit it is hard, but so worthwhile!

The Lord gave me a picture in my devotions on New Year's Eve that I would like to share with you. From my journal:

My time with you each morning is precious. You are the lifeline to all that really matters. Gently You tug and pull allowing me to come to You. And You never let go! Eternity will reveal how tightly You've held me, even when I didn't realize it. Thank You!

So, as I look to a new year and plan what my devotions will look like, I know I will finish reading the Old Testament, and I want to read the New Testament this year as well. But Father, I must ask You, "What would you have me do?" I know You are able and willing to interrupt my reading plans; You did that this year! I want to know You more in 2010. I want to have the truths of Your Word take deeper root into my conscience, changing how I think and live.

I want to lead the Route 66 Club into this same fertile ground. Your Word is a book of seeds; Each time it is opened there is a scattering of seeds blown across my heart. Route 66 on my first trip through the Bible was a dry and barren road. Now there are flowers and trees that are familiar mile markers to me. I remember different verses and how they've impacted me. It is a pleasant journey that I love sharing with others. But each one's road looks different. Help those who are part of Route 66 to enjoy this year's seed scattering allowing them to reap the beauty in the years to come.

In Your Name I pray,
Amen

Hey Debi,
I will definitely be reading through the Children's Bible again with Elena, but as far as reading through the Bible in a year, I won't attempt that this year.
Thanks for leading the group!

Hi Debi,
I'd love to be one of Route 66 travelers again this year! I'm still praying about what the Lord would want me to focus on for 2010 in my daily Bible reading. I think...it's going to be a slower, smaller trip this year for me and I'm going to just try to get through the New Testament this year. The past two years, I've had trouble finishing my goal, I think due to attempting too much at once, so I want to keep it more simple and really try to finish my WHOLE goal this year. I'll let you know ASAP (since 2010 has already begun :) once I finalize my decision/plans and/or if anything changes!
Thanks for leading us in this!

Hey Debi,
My plan is to read through the Bible again...this time, the OT and NT everyday, instead of straight through...but I haven't kept up with Route 66. I just don't have a lot of time to be on the computer right now... Thanks so much for everything you do! I really appreciate your helping me get started...it had been several years since I'd read through the Bible in 1 year, and it is a huge blessing to be able to do this! The Lord has met me many times this year during my quiet times. God bless you, dear friend!
love,
Allura

Debi,

This year I started reading through the chronological Bible, but I found I could not keep up with both that discipline and the Hebrews study. After a few months. I was off schedule on both. If there is not directed study for this year, I may just continue my chronological reading and hopefully finish it this year.

Thanks for the inspiration this year and the study helps here.

Hello Debi!
I would love to join you again! My goal this year is to read the Bible every day. I'm not following any scheduled plan except to try to read at 3 chapters per day, leaving the flexibility to read more or less on any particular day. I really desire to keep the primary goal knowing God more and I keep getting "hung up" on staying on track with a date. So, by Gods Grace I'm going to try a different approach this time. We'll see how far I get! Who knows, perhaps I may ACTUALLY read through the whole Bible! :)

Good Morning Debi,
I have decided to read throught the New Testament and the Psalms & Proverbs this year and have found a schedule for it. I am excited about it and am off on my journey. I am doing my reading at night and am enjoying rethinking through it as I go to sleep and wondering what about that and that. I pray the Lord would remind me the next night and allow me to find those answers.Thank you for encouraging us along the way. It is a blessing and encourages me to keep on my pace and stay in God's word. God Bless You Today!

Debi,
I'm going to follow the this blog and be apart from afar. Danny is going to be reading through the New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs. I'm going to be doing the whole thing. We are using The Discipleship Journal Reading Plan @
http://www.navpress.com/uploadedFiles/15074%20BRP.dj.pdf
I like it much better than any other plan I have used. Hopefully, we will be able to stay on track this year and grow a deeper love for God's Word :)
Thanks for doing this :)

I didn't finish this year, but I'm in faith to try again this year. I will finish reading the New Testament, and plan to join a Bible Study Fellowship that's near me. They're studying the book of John until June, and then they start a new study up in the fall.

Thanks for the encouragement, Debi and all the other Route 66ers.!
